Consequently, both parents and teachers, who play important roles in a child’s development, are also becoming the hot themes of the focus. As is known to us all, it is teachers who take the responsibility for the child’s education, and in our common sense, the main function of schools is to transfer the necessary knowledge and take care of the child’s development. However, while we emphasize the important roles of teachers in school, it is too rush to neglect the parents’ effect in child’s development. Parents are crucial to a child not only because they give birth to their child, but also because most parents act spontaneously as a first teacher to their child. Most parents live together with their child, which makes them intimate family members. Child is more likely to be influenced by their parents and naturally imitate his or her parents’ behaviors. Thus, child will gradually form good habits if his or her parents have these habits, and vice verse. For instance, my neighbor is fond of gambling. He always invites his friends home to play Majiang together. Day by days, his 6-year-old little boy is getting interested in this gambling and standing beside his farther while adults are playing. He even knows how to play Majiang before going to school. It is no doubt that gambling is harmful and it will become the obstacles for a child’s development. But under such kind of situation, teachers will probably try in vain to change notion of this child, since his interests has been deeply rooted in heart. In addition to be the earliest and most influence models, parents are vital to their child’s development also because they are in charge of the family. That is to say, the family, which is run by parents, influences the child greatly. One psychological investigation showed that a majority of teenagers who encountered troubles in their future life because they had unpleasant childhood in their family. One of the informant complained that she was never allowed to have her own opinion when she was young. And both of her parents were busy with working. They regularly gave her enough money for her to live without taking care of her. Then she felt lonely and boring, which made her finally joined a gang to thieve. She did not lack money and just did this for fun. She finally cried into tears and said that she could have been a bright person if her family would have been cozy and warm for her when she was a child. Above all, we come to the conclusion that schools’ function is a little bit more auxiliary compare to the parents’ position to a child’s development. It is quite necessary for parents to be well prepared to be qualified for their child’s sake. |
