(1) WITH/WITHOUT” 短语就近修饰主句中的哪个成份。我一直以为它应该修饰主句中主语的动作。但是在第2题中， “with different colors that mark the passage of time like the rings in a tree trunk" 应该是修饰 “layers of sediment” (主句中的宾语)。

(2)WITH/WITHOUT” 短语前有逗号和没逗号的区别。

(3)WITH/WITHOUT” 短语放在什么地方不会引起歧义。如果说第7题，"without the aid of telephoto lenses“放在“lions playing in trees”后会引起歧义，那么第1题里“with emotional overtones ”放在 “marine world”后就不会引起歧义吗。

部分题目点评，个人意见，仅供参考。

2. （C）中的been seeing （d）中的been able to 就注定这两个选项是错的。
    （A）中with noun. 这种结构ETS往往将其作为 Ungrammatic 选项， 例如：….，with the result that …就是典型错误选项。 要么在with noun 这种结构后面加上分词构成状语，要么换写,（E）选项比较完美,考虑了逻辑一致性。.

"with noun that"结构可在OG中找到， OG205
E选项中如果"marking by different colors"修饰 "layers of sediment", 为什么不用 marked by different colors.
