In this set of materials, the reading passage describes some general information about hemophilia, and the listening passage provides us with an example of hemophilia.

According to the reading passage, hemophilia is a phenomenon that the blood clots slowly or does not clot at all. There are several factors which contribute to the clot of blood. If one of the factors is missing or not working properly, then hemophilia will happen. Hemophilia can be divided into 2 types, one is type A, caused by malfunction of factor 8, the other is type B, which is caused by factor 9. The disease is often passed from mother to son, though it is sometimes passed to daughters. However, daughters who carry the genes which cause hemophilia do not develop the disease. On the contrary, if sons carry the genes, they will develop the disease.

The listening passage describes an example of hemophilia which is called “Royal hemophilia”. Queen Victoria was a hemophilia carrier, and she passed the disease to some of her children. Then, her children spread it to the royal families of some other European countries.

In this set of materials, the reading passage describes a novel, and the listening passage provides some additional information about the novel.

The reading passage describes Catch-22, written by Joseph Heller. The novel is about the life of military during the World War II. It features a bombardier named John Yossarian, who does not want to be in the war. When the novel was first published in 1961, it was not popular at all. However, the Vietnam war took place and heated up years later, then the novel was regarded to be one of the century’s best novels.

The listening passage provides some more information about the novel. The title Catch22 has become a expression which if often used in American English. It refers to a situation where there is a catch, or the difficulty to find out a solution to a problem. In addition, the number 22  in the title does not have any meaning. It had been changed several times before the novel was finally published.

In this set of materials, the reading passage is about a unique characteristic of Asian bamboo, and the listening passage discusses a problem related to the special characteristic of Asian bamboo.

The reading passage describes the unique flowering and seeding cycles of Asian bamboo. There are two reasons why the cycles are unique. First, all of the members of a specific species of Asian bamboo would flower, and then seed at the same time. Second, these cycles occur quite regularly, usually at the intervals of several decades. However, when the bamboo seeds, it will produce a large amount of seeds, which will ensure that enough new plants can be grown.

The listening passage shows us a problem related to the unique cycle of Asian bamboo. As we all know, giant panda is an endangered species, whose main source of food is bamboo. Giant pandas are not only threatened by hunters, however, they are also threatened by the special cycle of Asian bamboo. The reason is that when a bamboo finishes seeding, it will immediately die. Thus, there will not be enough bamboo available to giant pandas. They have to move to a more settled place to find food, which will make them more exposed to humans, in other words, more dangerous.

In this set of materials, the reading passage describes the uses of garlic in the past, and the listening passage discusses about scientific evidence showing the benefit of garlic.

The reading passage lists several uses of garlic in the past. Garlic was used as a medicine in ancient Egypt. Because of its medical effects, slaves who built the pyramids were made to eat garlic in order to make them stronger. More uses of garlic were found by ancient Greeks and Romans. They used garlic to keep evil spells and curses away. In addition to the uses mentioned above, garlic was also considered to be able to improve human’s endurance and fight infections, thus garlic was widely used by the soldiers during World War II.

The listening passage tells us about the scientific evidence showing the benefits of garlic. Researches have shown that garlic can kill bacteria when it is raw and uncooked. When it is heated, it will produce a compound which helps to reduce blood pressure.

In this set of materials, the reading passage describes some general information about hemophilia, and the listening passage provides us with an example of hemophilia.

According to the reading passage, hemophilia is a phenomenon that the blood clots slowly or does not clot at all. There are several factors which contribute to the clot(我感觉应该用clotting,虽然clot也是名词但感觉这里的意思是有助于凝结的过程) of blood. If one of the factors is missing or not working properly, then hemophilia will happen.(如果那么的关联词在英语里好像就用一个就行了) Hemophilia can be divided into 2 types, one is type A, caused by the malfunction of factor 8, (用分号吧) the other is type B, which is caused by factor 9. The disease is often passed (down)from mother to son, though it is sometimes passed to daughters.

感觉写得挺好的,我写作水平实在是不高
