想问一下为何C不用改成attracting表主动?

I just don't understand why the C attracted.

因为 "Lowell"是主动吸引"worldwild attention", 那么"attract"不是应该用现在分词表主动吗?

因为attract是整个句子谓语动词，主语是lowell，中间从known as到built这部分是插入语，用于修饰说明前面的lowell。如果你用attracting，整个句子就没有谓语动词了。
