问一道曼哈顿里的比较题

The clothes looked more appealing inside the store than on the racks outside. 这句话是对的 是里和外对比，官方给出更好的句子是
The clothes looked more appealing inside the store than they did  on the racks outside.
是否说明GMAT里 A do sth than B是对的 A do sth than B do.也是对的？（主语互相比较）

另外还有个句子 he clothes inside the store looked more appealing than on the racks outside
这里是错误，出现了歧义 不知道衣服和racks outside比还是 同一个衣服里外比
官网的改正是The clothes looked more appealing inside the store than on the racks outside.
把表示位置的这部分状语移到了比较词后面
那么是否我可以推广出 比较的部分就是比较词后面的部分，改正方法之一也就是把应该比较的东西移到比较此后？

第二版本的改正是The clothes inside the store looked more appealing than (did) those  on the racks outside.
这里对比第一个句子，有两个疑问
1、they和those修饰可以互换？ 不是they指代人 those指代物嘛
2、语序问题，第一个是they did第二个是 did those 也是两个都对？ 或者我说
The clothes inside the store looked more appealing than those (did)   on the racks outside.
或者The clothes inside the store looked more appealing thanthose  on the racks outside (did)  
这样是否也对？

they 和 those的区别在于 they指同样的那一群 those是同类但不同样的那一群 跟 it 和 that 的区别一样
