Some scientists suggest that the moon was formed from part of the Earth that had perhaps been dislodged。
这句里面 that had perhaps been dislodged为什么能清楚指代 part of the earth. that 这类词不是只可以修饰最近的名词么？

首先，that是可以跳跃修饰的。
先给你两个例子：
1.（OG13-105）Marconi conceived of the radio as a tool for private conversation that could substitute for the telephone; instead, it has become precisely the opposite, atoll for communicating with a large, public audience.

2.（OG13-126)  The use of lie detectors is based on the assumption that lying produces emotional reactions in an individual that, in turn, create unconscious physiological responses.

你的句子呢是这样子的：

Some scientists suggest that the moon was formed from part of the Earth that had perhaps been dislodged

这三个句子的结构都是类似的，红色的介词修饰成分，蓝色的that引导修饰成分（定语从句）

两个修饰成分都修饰那个前面的先行词时候，that引导从句是可以不紧挨着先行词的，这时介词修饰成分除了*先行词*与*that 吧啦吧啦*之间没地方可以去了。

其实，这个对解题没有意义，这个点应该使用来解释为什么正确答案是正确的。
最后，你通过句子意思也知道 noun.1 +prep. + noun.2+ that... that是到底修饰哪一个noun

谢谢了！！！！很详细的分析，完全清楚了，我今天才看的that这些可以跳跃修饰，结果一下就忘了，以前被      -ing修饰弄惨了，下意识就判定修饰最近名词了。。。
