In 1975, a primitive machine called the Altair was launched in the USA, and it is described as the first ‘home computer’. From those humble beginnings, we have seen the development of the user-friendly home computers and multimedia machines which are in common use today. Then, there are some debates that computers make life easier and more convenient or they made life complex and stressful. In my opinion, I admit that computers made some disadvantage to our life, but I prefer to say that computers take more benefits to our life for the following statements.
At first, computers make our life more convenient. They are capable of providing information about traffic jams and suggesting alternative routs; they are used in hospitals to help doctors to diagnose illnesses; they would relieve office workers and accountants of dull, repetitive clerical work.
Furthermore, computers are linked to telephone networks or any other accessible networks so that we can communicate instantly with anyone in any part of the world by ICQ or e-mails and get a pool of friends all over the world. At the same time, in the Internet, we can obtain information on every known or unknown subject so we can read it on a screen in out homes and even print it as well if we want to. Thus, our eyesight can be got expanded.
However, we must realize that computers can take some drawbacks to our life. For example, there are computer hackers who take advantage of computers to steal the business secretes or personal credit cards to gain illegal income. If we enhance our internet security and our government adopt measures to ensure internet safe, those disadvantages can be avoided.
All in above, when taking those advantages mentioned above into consideration that computers take to our life, I can safely say that computers make life easier and more convenient. |
