D选项是错的，解释之一是theory hold the beginning to be an instant that中的that修饰的是begining，我不明白为什么修饰的不是instant，是因为that可以跳过直接修饰核心词吗？然后这里的instant 不是核心词？

咦，LZ有些明白了。不过有一点，核心词怎么定义的呢？楼主理解为非修饰成分，去掉之后句子结构会不完整。不知道对不对呢

D选项，单纯从语法角度来讲我觉得修饰的是an explosive instant。举个例子，Apple is a fruit that can be eaten. 语法角度来讲修饰的是fruit。但是我觉得这个题不必纠结于这个错误选项的语法结构吧，语法是为逻辑服务的。根据句子逻辑，宇宙的开始和延续扩张是两个有明显先后时间顺序的动作，理解了这个之后就直接排除DCE，再根据时态就可以快速圈定A了。

(⊙v⊙)嗯，这个选A我没意见，D选项肯定指代错了噻。我就是想弄明白错在哪，万一以后成考点了

亲，代词指代作为首选split是有风险的，因为gmat允许适度的指代不清
