请教it的指代用法，OG13 SC85

请问it是否可以指代短语？
我一直以为it不可以指代短语，只能指代名词；而which是可以指代短语的。
OG13 SC85 里面it可以指代owing and living in a freestanding house
有点糊涂了，是it可以指代名词性短语？而owing and living in a freestanding house是可以当成一个名词来看的？
请高人指点。

这里owing and living in a freestanding house动名词短语做主语，是一个一体的成分，it指代这个名词性质的成分，应该没有什么问题~

另外还是建议楼主下次提问的时候把原题写出来，这样大家讨论起来方便些~
我还傻傻去翻OG…万一书没在身边就不好了~

不好意思，偷了个小懒，下次注意。
关于it的指代问题，因为以前自己做的笔记上面写it不可以指代短语，比如 the growth of the global economy, 75% of the population, a greater proportion 都不可以用it指代。所以这次看到owing and living 这样的doing形式的短语出现就困惑了。看来以前的理解不是很准确。
现在看起来it可以指代做名词性成分的短语，能不能用it指代主要看短语在句中所做的成分。

不过这样怎么样分辨it的指代与which的指代的区别呢？

这题答案是E，可是前面的its已经用来形容house了，后面这个it应该不好修饰goal了啊。。。我也不会

是不是因为“owning and living”算是复数形式，而it只能指代单数形式呀？
