关于到底是名词短语还是完整句子的困惑，含og题，求各位赐教，急~~~

但是对于C的解释又说：because they use complete independent clauses,the last two elements are not parallel to the first .这一句话我很难理解好，为什么说完全独立的句子，the upward thrust threw one man straight into the air这句话至少还是分词短语啊，就像A所解释的

说threw是过去式，这是一个完整的句子，那请问能不能看成是the upward thrust 这个名词，然后用Ved形式，就是后面的 threw one man straight into the air来修饰。这个是我最近老是觉得矛盾的地方，像这样的情况，到底是看做名词短语还是看做一个完整的句子呢？
比如还像，because of sth doing（og上见到了，具体例子一时半会找不到，不好意思），那这里如果说是n，然后ing形式是修饰n的话，是不是就是一个名词短语，那because of 后面跟名词短语是对的！但是如果看作是一个ing形式的完整句子，那because of 后面是不能跟完整句子的，这个地方就错了，为什么会产生这样的矛盾，是我哪里想错了么，求赐教
