问:如何区分独立主格和run-on sentence?

Sound can travel through water for enormous distances, prevented from dissipating its acoustic energy as a result of boundaries in the ocean created by water layers ofdifferent temperatures and densities.

独立主格!B&C不是run-on sentence

A. prevented from dissipating its acoustic energy as a result of

B. prevented from having its acoustic energy dissipated by

C. its acoustic energy prevented from dissipating by

D. its acoustic energy prevented from being dissipated asa result of

preventing its acoustic energy from dissipating by
疑问:为什么选C?怎么看出来BC不是run-on sentence而是独立主格呢?

你可以在C选项当中its acoustic energy和prevented之间补入一个be动词,如果正好是一个完整的句子,那么就是独立主格了嘛
比如说加入is
its acoustic energy is prevented from ....

run-on是指两个完整的句子,中间没有连词的情况;而这道题第二句话明显不是完整的句子。。。。肯定不是run-on的情况啊。。亲。。。。
