I basically agree with the claim that the same curriculum is required before students enter college. Indeed, the same curriculum could bring some negative effects, however, when we consider the actual situations and the probability of implements, the same nation curriculum is needed and indispensable.
Indeed, there would be some cons that the same national curriculum that would conduce to. For one thing, different students have different hobbies and interests. Once the students are forced to learn the same nation curriculum, it means that some students would learn some subjects that they do not like, then, it is very likely that they might lose interest of studying, it is known that interests are the best teachers when we are learning. Once students lose the interests of learning, they could not learn the curriculum very well. On the other hand, the same national curriculum overlooks the real requirements of students. Some students are gifted in some subjects and they would learn more quickly than their contemporaries. However, once they are forced to learn the same curriculum, the national curriculum is edited based on most students’ learning ability, thus, the curriculum would not meet those gifted students’ needs, which would delay their learning, thus having a detrimental impacts on their learning. Therefore, the same national curriculum indeed would have some bad impacts.
However, detrimental as the same national curriculum it is, however, when we consider the national actual situations, the pros of the same curriculum overweigh its cons. Firstly, it guarantees the equity of education resources. If different regions have different curriculums, some remote areas which have a relatively low education quality can not provide students curriculums of high quality, which is not equal to the local students. While these developed unban areas can have enough ability to provide their local students a good education, thus, the education would lose the balance, which would have a bad impact on the development of the national education. Secondly, it can provide a standard for colleges to choose students. If students in different areas learn different curriculums, due to the distinct curriculum and scores of entrance examination based on different standards, colleges could not choose students that they want without a standard. Thirdly, which is the most important, to some basic curriculum, such as maths, lingustics, they can strengthen students basic learning abilities, such as calculation and communication abilities, which are of crucial importance in their lives in future. Though some students do not like it, they have to learn it due to its great importance. Therefore, the same curriculums are indispensable.
Summed up, though there are some negative impacts of the same national curriculum, however, its pros overweigh its cons, thus, the same curriculum is required.
