亲爱的CDers：
一年前我和你们一样奋战在考试、申请的过程中，十分感谢CD丰富的资源和无私的分享。9月份到斯坦福以来，一直忙忙碌碌：紧张的功课、巨大的文化冲突、多样的价值观、纷繁的社交活动、以及生活上的适应等等，几乎无暇静下来思考。
现在正是感恩节的假期， 本地的同学基本都回家了，许多国际学生都安排了旅游项目。我则选择了呆在学校，处理驾照、买车等事宜，从喧嚣的生活中找个沉静的空间思考一下。在这个感恩的季节，想表达一下对CD的感谢。
圣诞假期许多同学会参加学校组织的global experience trip，就是到你未曾到过的国家体验business和life，我将这个计划放到了3月份的假期，所以12月份准备回国，同时参加一个国内组织的海外几所B-SCHOOL学生参加的VC/PE trek。
在回到广州的日子里，我想筹办一个中小型的Dinner，给大家分享一下申请经历及学校生活（当时我申了5所：Stanford， Wharton， Chicago， Duke 和Yale， 结果是Yale拒掉，Chicago WL，其他3所录了，我选了Stanford）。北京上海的CDer们别着急，Stanford来自国内的同学也会在这些城市举办，请留意通知。其实我去年申请时觉得特别孤独：广州似乎是个山高皇帝远的地方，学校基本不来，也没什么校友分享会，我09年9月份几乎是北京上海香港到处飞，追着info session去了解学校，挺郁闷的。
斯坦福B-school的格言是：change lives, chang organizations, change the world. 我不希望南区的申请者们向我当年一样茫茫然无所适从，很无助的感觉。所以想做点小小的change，在广州跟大家聚聚。
时间大致是在12月15~24号之间，关于形式、地点等大家可以给些建议。

我与学校的admission office沟通了一下，学校希望特别关注已经明确表示对Stanford有兴趣且在Stanford的admission网站上已经注册并希望收到学校资料和邀请的同学，并由admission office直接发出邀请参加dinner。（ADMISSION OFFICER的email摘录：We only dinner with people that have explicitly expressed interest in the GSB by registering to receive invitations and materials from the school through the admissions website (dinner with those are the prospective students））
因此，请尽快在Stanford GSB网站上注册，以获得event和material的信息！！！这也有助于学校特别留意你。（每年注册的人和申请的人都有统计）。

刚刚在线上和Justin一起跟大家分享了申请过程和学校感受。希望对各位有所帮助。
今天接到admission officer的email， 确认各地的small group dinner。广州这边一共由校方发了10个邀请，（超数了，原定最多8个参加dinner）。北京上海的也都已发出。相信注册的朋友已经收到。以下英文的是学校邮件。
如果您收到校方邀请，请RSVP.也请你给我留个note(email&phone)以方便联系。
因为大部分的问题都已经在网上语音交流了，CD也会将录音和整理的文字版本放到网上。对于在CD上报名但未接到学校邀请的朋友们，是否需要我再组织一场coffee chat呢？（学校明确要求small group dinner只能是被邀请的人。）搜集意见中...

These "Dinners on Break" are an informal way to help you learn more about the Stanford MBA education and experience.


活动总结：
各地的small group dinner都已结束，我自己在广州和上海各办了一场，其他同学在北京、上海、香港、台湾等地也陆续办完。总的来说活动很成功，见到了许多孜孜不倦的追梦者，分享了心得体会，希望有所帮助。关于问得最多的申请目标/背景等问题，并非是因为申请Stanford就必写创业，Stanford虽然创业气氛很浓，也不是个个毕业去创业。banking/consulting等大有人在。生源的背景也非常多样化。所以希望大家在申请时不要被误导，牵强附会反而不好。

忘了说，Stanford鼓励我们这么做！以下是来自Stanford admission office的邮件：其实学校也想了解你。除了学校会安排见面的名单外，我也可以邀请人员参加，所以，如果有兴趣，赶快报名吧！

This is mainly for International students and those of you traveling during the winter break…

Are you going home during the winter break or are you travelling during the winter break?

Dinners on Break is one of the many initiatives of the Admissions Office to reach out prospective international students and other people interested in learning more about Stanford GSB.  Mainly, international students going home during winter break or students traveling during the winter break are encouraged to host an event (dinner, lunch, coffee, tea, etc.) for people that are currently applying to the GSB or that have simply expressed interest in the school.  This is very important for the Admissions Office's international efforts.  You don’t need to be from the city to be able to host a GSB dinner there. If you are traveling to the city, feel free to go ahead and host a dinner.

The Admissions Office will take care of inviting people and will send you the names of the ones that will be attending your event (you are also encouraged to invite all the people you think might be interested and that are not in the school’s database). And then you just show up at the agreed place and date.

来上海组织吧，最近筹建了个VC/PE的俱乐部，都是有很丰富海内外经验的业内人士，可以交流下。小声问下楼主，硅谷附近，除了斯坦福外，还有什么商学院不错的？
Standford太梦幻，可遇不可求，现在觉得走创业，VC/PE这路子对我来说比较有激情，而且硅谷貌似有几千校友，很大一个资源。
