In the mid-1920s the Hawthorne Works of the Western electri company was the scene of an intensive of experiment that would investigate changes in working conditions as to their effects on workers' performance.

错的一个： that investigated changes in working condition's effects on workers' performance
正确答案： investigating the effects that changes in working conditions would have on workers' performance.

我的问题是experiment后面不需要加that么，这个不应该是宾语从句修饰experiment么，为什么错的那个答案不对啊。。。对的那个答案，investigating做什么成分啊。。。

还有一个题目是：

Soaring TV costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campain in 1992, a greater proportion than it was in any previous year.
对的答案是： a greater proportion than

我的问题是：怎么知道比较的对象到底是谁，就是than前面有这么多东西，怎么一眼就能确定比较的对象到底是谁，我选的是A，也就是现在句子划线的部分，为什么不可以接it was呢？ it就指代proportion啊， a greater proportion than proportion was in any previous year, 这样不可以么？
怎么确定助动词，或者是系动词要不要加呢？

这个问题真的困扰我很久了，一开始我觉得我懂了，后来发现错了很多这个类型的题目。。。
拜托大家教教我！！

第一个分词作的是后置定语修饰它前面的词错的那个答案的逻辑不对你可以试着翻译一下

第二个 it的指代不对
1 it是指前面的事物本身，也就是说俩个proportion一致了
2改比较是介宾短语的比较
3俺没有看过这样的
was前面也没有be动词对应
than 的后面的主谓应该是They did (Soaring TV costs accounted for ),应为主谓一致就可以省略

第一个，错的那个翻译的不是说“ 在working condition上的改变给works' performance带来的影响”么？跟对的那个不是一个意思么？

第二个，我还是不明白，怎么能看出比较的是哪个成分，greater和than之间不是proportion么，那也应该是比preportion in 1992和proportion in the previou year相比不是么？

我就是弄不明白比较的到底是哪个成分。。。
