61题，prep笔记里解释ABC选项：What从句中出现what和it两个主语，又说that/what/which/who…等引导的从句  that/what/which/who等词汇本身充当从句主语。
101题中说it claims为插入成分，这一现象大多数考生在此处为第一次遇到，因此很多考生会认为claim的正确搭配为claim to do something，因而排除BCD选项。实际上is和to be在选项中都是正确的表达：若为is，可理解为it claims是插入成分；若为to be，则可理解成what it claims to be…这一大家都很熟悉的表达。
我偏向于101题的解释，那么能把61题的it appeals看做是插入语吗？？

不可以吧，把it claims理解为插入成分，是因为前面出现过it的指代对象The electronics company，但是it appears ，从逻辑上来理解，it是指the place，即what指代的对象，那么是不是有重复的问题呢？

我觉得101题的问题应该是a和b的说法是错的，所以选D，it claims作为插入语，其实我觉得用what it claims to be这个结构没问题啊，是我个人的看法，希望得到跟好的答复

其实这个用我高中老师教的一个方法很容易解决。其实当what在句子中指代名词成分的时候可以将what还原成something that将其变成 一个简单的定从（这两个结构等价），这样让整个结构更清晰。第一个 wooden spears from what it appears was 可以变成 wooden spears from something that it appears was 。很快我们就可以发现这里的it明显多余。
第二个TEC has unveiled what it claims to be 可以变成TEC has unveiled something that it claims to be 这里it指代前面的TEC，后面的这个定从的结构是it claims sth to be ~~~ 是正确的。

that定语从句，it此处无指代（researchers、spears均为复数且不逻辑），多余，省略it，appears was两个谓语，故要改为appears to be
第二个

that定语从句，it指代TEC正确，成立
TEC has unveiled something that it claims is the world's smallest network digital camcorder
that定语从句，it claims 插入语，it指代TEC正确，也成立

解题方法：把what理解为something that 然后判断it的指代是否符合逻辑，进行相应的取舍
