请问下面这道题红色和蓝色部分为什么可以直接连接？谢谢！

findings是同位语指前面科学家的发现

consistent 是形容词可以修饰它

finding is the verb+ing form modifying the first half sentence. its meaning is close to which. but 'which' could only modify nouns which immediately preced 'which'. verb+ing form can be used to modify sentence clause
