There is a general discussion recently about how human being obtains their knowledge. Those who criticize that people gained more from practical experience argue that it is applying as well as direct. They believe that books cannot cover all the information we need, and also, the aim for people magnifying their academic knowledge is to utilize it in every aspects of life. However, people who advocate human being need to learn information in books, on the other hand, argue that materials in books are wider and profound. It is true that knowledge from books is usually systemic, but it is unlikely that sometimes we find it very conservative and hard to control. Compared to the drawbacks it may have, I prospect that we can only learn something very well through experience. If we barely discover it from book, like the prosper poses to swim well, we are supposed to acknowledge that without trying it, we cannot manage to swim as well. If we just read the book about how to drive perfectly, I suppose no one will be able to drive. These situations are not rare and they are quintessential of dozens I have ever heard before. Furthermore, to speak frankly, there is an appropriate example that is persuasive. Learning something from experience gains more opportunities for us to communicate with others. It will teach us not only to get along with other students, but also learn something superb from them. I have ever gained knowledge of playing piano with my friend Jane, who is a tremendously capable person not only professional in her field, but have a lot of good personalities as well such as tolerance and understanding. She influenced me a lot on all these aspects. She used to be very strict with me when checking out my performances. And also, if I had anything in trouble, she would be the first one to help me. Just imagine without the experience to be trained by her, I would never have such a perfect chance to meet her. It is no better illustration that can demonstrate the view. Eventually, as a proverb says, “Each coin has two sides”, Examples from personal experience lead me to conclude that knowledge from books is usually systemic, which is excellent for learning something abstract. I can only study algebra calculus anthropology and philosophy in my test books, because they can hardly be described with experience logically. And also, I am fond of reading history books and geography maps, these kinds of knowledge, to some extent, are difficult to acquire from experience. In addition, great works are all published in books so that people can understand them well, such as the Darwinism and Marxism. They are unquestionable profound and insight. Taking into account all above factors, we can find out that despite all the merits people acquire to be skilled from the books; learning from experience seems to be more buoyant and practicing. But people cannot be logical and systemic without reading books. Therefore, from what I have discussed we have no alternative but to, keep in mind that only by combing knowledge from both on the books and in one’s experience, will a person be versatile in s/he’s field.
