In contrast to non-MBA masters programs or PhD programs, MBA programs care much more about your professional work experience than about academic research experience. Rather than devoting time and effort to research, you'll do better to strengthen your application by building upon your existing 2 years' worth of work experience at an internet company. Gaining a promotion (whether within the same company or by switching companies) is proof of professional growth, as is an increase in responsibility and/or leadership (even if you aren't officially promoted). Most of the successful applicants to top MBA programs in the US have 4-5 years of work experience on average by the time they apply, so you have time to develop your resume further before applying.
