题很简单，答案是C。

我第一遍做OG的时候没发现问题，直到我把所有OG，prep0708都学一遍后，用已经所学的再二刷OG的时候，觉得C的allowing it看着就奇怪起来了，这里的it为什么就可以指代the elephant seal了呢？按照it指代主句里主语的原则，it应该是指代the eyes的，但是eyes是复数，要么把it变成them，但是整句话逻辑就不对了。所以it就能在不产生歧义的情况下去指代不是主语的名词the elephant seal了？是这个逻辑么？

it是指代前文中出现过的合理的名词，这里指代elephant seal，因为只有这个动物才能发出hunt这个动作，不能说允许眼睛去捕猎，所以不能指代eyes
