the combination [of a reliable supply of water and ...] and ( the combination) [of good growing conditions and ...]多了of就表示有两个两种东西的结合，缺少另外两种东西，且意思与原句不符。

The combination of top-quality seeds and of good growing conditions plays a crucial role in farming. 我认为也是正确的.


此题第二个of错是因为造成歧义, 而不是idiom.

可以是可以，但是跟原文表达的水供给和生长条件的结合不相符。如果加of，前面要补出combination，就变成two combinations了。

我给出的例句已经不是原文的意思. 我只是想说明combination of A and of B也是可以成立的, 关键是句意没错.

我同意第二句是对的。combination of a plural noun没错。但是第一句前半部分，combination of a singular noun我不认为正确，改成The combination of a reliable supply of water, fertilizer and good growing conditions plays a crucial role in farming我觉得才说得通。

我说non-idiomatic的时候确实没考虑plural noun的情况。

这个句子有两个问题：
1. 这样combination的组成变成了a reliable supply of water, a reliable supply of fertilizer, and a reliable supply of good growing conditions. 和原题中c,d,&e选项一样，good growing conditions不存在有reliable supply.

2. The combination of A and B, 或者the combination of A and of B.
无论哪一种，在这个句子里A都是a reliable supply，那么B是什么呢? 如果B是good growing conditions, 那么water和fertilizer之间要有个and, 或and of.
