上图是gmatclub的instructor的解释，不懂为什么可以这样调整顺序。
个人认为，depending on mass不构成ron说的“，V-ing”形式的两个条件（1是结果状语，2是伴随状语），所以这是个后置定语修饰a red gant stage。能有NN来解释一下吗？

我认为Depending on the mass，是修饰Star的，所以离star越近越好。

句意为：个星星在passing through  red giant stage之后会根据自己的Mass把自己压成a white dwarf, a neutron star, or a black hole。

答案是B?

A选项的depending on mass 太远了；
C选项的前面的modifier "After passing through a red giant stage" 应该修饰的是star，而不是star's mass
D选项我没看出来语法错误，但是句意被曲解成Mass决定star是否在XX stage之后变形，而句子本意是Mass决定star 变成什么。
E选项同C，modifier应该修饰star 而不是star's mass.

B中after passing... 修饰a star也很远，而且depending on its mass中it指代不明，可以指代a red giant stage或者a star
结合A&D，我纠结如果用depending on mass到底应该放在什么位置
