twice as many 和twice as many as的区别

最近看错题又做新题，然后发现了gmat里虽然经常考到as ...as...但是有时候as又不是成对出现的，非常疑惑。

In1914 a total of 469,000 cars and trucks were produced in the United States, butin 1929 almost twice the numbers of tucks alone came off the assemblylines.

A the numbers of tucks alone

B that number of trucks alone

C the number of trucks by themselves

D as many trucks themselves

E as many trucks by themselves

这道题要是我刚接触gmat是绝对不会选DE的，因为一直知道做比较的话as是要成对出现的，而且解释里也是因为as many后面没有as所以才归入错误答案，但是最近看了错题还有一些解释，发现twice as many这种用法其实也是对的。

在笔记里我写过这样一段话： as many=a number that is equal to another number.
例句：They say the people of LA speak 12 languages and teach just as many in the schools.
然后说“twice as many” 和“one-quarter as many”经常被用到。
这道题的正确选项是B
我想知道twice as many 和twice as many as有什么不同的？求牛牛们解答~~~~谢谢~~~

不能= =
就目前而言，几乎没有把这个作为考点的SC，如果出现过，也可以用语义或者其他错误排除相关选项。
建议集中火力先弄高频考点。
在熟悉高频考点的过程中，会自然增加对这种题的题感。

in fact, you can illustrate 'as... (as...)' with exactly the same sentences, just making the appropriate substitutions:

Ellie threw the ball twice as far as her brother did.

Ellie's brother threw the ball quite a distance, but Ellie threw it twice as far

twice as many as 后面要接比较的对象，而 twice as many 不用加，本身就是fewer/more than 后面的对象。不知道这样理解吗
