The to can be omitted in the second infinitive (and all the rest), unless there is a parallelism marker before the first infinitive. For example:
We would like NOT ONLY to hear your side of the story BUT ALSO to provide a response.
In this sentence, NOT ONLY...BUT ALSO is the parallelism marker. More importantly, you can find a a parallelism marker (NOT ONLY) right before the first infinitive (to hear), so you cannot omit TO.
In sentence above, no parallelism marker is in front of the infinitive (to retire early), so you can omit TO in this case. |
