In 1713, AP began his translation of the Lliad, a work that took him seven years to complete and literary critic SJ, Pope’s contemporary ,pronounced it the greatest translation in any language.



(1)我记得老师上课的时候说有a的是指代前面整句话的，而这道题的正确答案a work 是指his translation of the Lliad.请大神帮忙解答一下我的疑惑可以么~

(2)如果用which代替a work 的话，which指代的是lliad还是his translation of lliad??

啊啊啊太清晰了，原来是实义和抽象名词前的区别。老师上课好像也说了，不过我给弄混了。谢谢啊!!

亲，这个alan叔的脑图里有讲，你可以参考一下。
apprositive 只能修饰前面的名词。
absolute phrase 可以修饰前面的句子。

同位语分两种情况;
1)abstract noun: 指代前面整个句子的内容：the scientists discovered that..., a finding that shocked all of us.
2)concrete noun：指代preceding noun phrase：例如本题中的work，特指一部作品，指代his translation of the Lliad

如果用which的话倾向于指代lliad,这一点是我对ron看法的总结，但是DUKB版主认为不能以此作为split点，只能作为SUSPECT的选项，看是否有其它更好的选项~我个人觉得这个说法也很合理，因为ron说的时候也不是100%sure的~仅以此作为参考啦~~~

很显然，有A的能指代前一句话的说法很不严谨。a work that took him seven years to complete and literary critic SJ, Pope’s contemporary，看作同位语，解释和说明translation of the Lliad。which不能替代a work，否则和that并列错误，而且在形式上有指代the Lliad的嫌疑。
