I am probably very stupid regarding to this, but I do not think those courses or backgound knowledge you listed are that necessary. I have many classmates who did BBA in their undergrad study (in US) and their math knowledge were very limited (only restricted to those core math courses in b-school), but they still got admitted by top PhD finance programs in the US and they all survicved for MORE THAN 2 years so far. Maybe they are super smart, so they do not need to take those courses. But personally i do not think those courses are that important. If I am wrong, I apoloize. ion 和stochastic calculus -- by 会员 miltoning (2012/8/20 9:07:04)
-- by 会员 Zingales (2012/8/20 13:53:11)

。。-- by 会员 Zingales (2012/8/21 3:57:41)

Cornell. “ There is a strong admissions and financial aid bias towards students with more mathematics: differential equations, real analysis, mathematical probability and statistics, optimization, topology, and stocastic differential equations, among many others.” http://economics.cornell.edu/graduate/phdprereqs.html。
We require (1) at least two courses in calculus, (2) linear algebra, (3) differential equations, and (4) probability and statistics. We also recommended that you have taken: (1) real analysis, (2) econometrics, (3) stochastic calculus. http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/doctoral/programs/applied-economics-faq.cfm
You should definitely have taken single-variable and multivariate calculus. It is expected that you would have a background in linear algebra, and an exposure to probability and statistics. Many of our applicants also have a background in difference or differential equations, and they have been exposed to rigorous thinking in limits, continuity, and basic topological concepts (openness, compactness, etc.). There are a good number of applicants who have more than this: e.g., some measure theory and exposure to rigorous probability theory and stochastic processes. http://econ.as.nyu.edu/object/econ.faq.doc
U Maryland Econ PHD 的说明 “It is extremely rare for us to admit a student who has not completed the equivalent of three semesters of calculus, a semester of linear algebra, and a semester in differential equations at the time of application. The overwhelming majority of admitted students have also completed course work in real analysis or other upper-level mathematics courses.” http://www.econ.umd.edu/graduate/prospective/faq1
