其实我原来也属于比较偏mean的风格吧,被拍的多了,慢慢就转成八卦风了哈哈哈

如果大家觉得我帖子里语言的风格不好接受,aggressive也好,mean也好, sarcastic也好,以后我会注意帖子语言本身的attitude. 但是我觉得至少我没有crossed the line, 没有judge别人"下作," "暗戳戳的黑." 另外,似乎大家都喜欢和谐的,八卦的,顺从的,赞美的跟贴甚至寒暄,不喜欢critical的counterargument. 那么为了这个论坛的"和谐之风,"为了Judy版主的"团结紧张严肃活泼,"以后也会尽量避免这样的帖子.

If that is so, I am okay with what you said.  zjq407 did not mean to judge you. I guess there was some misunderstanding.

Let's move on to the next topic.

As a matter of fact, the placement of my department is not that bad. The most recent graduate went to UNC Greensboro. For your information,  I found the recent placement of the marketing department of my school as following. Some of you may even consider taking it as a backup. Your background might be too strong to consider it though.


Recent Ph.D Graduates

Michael Breazeale, from Jackson, Mississippi, completed his PhD in 2010. His dissertation was entitled Three Essays on Customer Chemistry. Dr. Breazeale is now assistant professor of Marketing at Indiana University Southeast.

William C. Martin, from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, completed his Ph.D. in 2009. Dissertation title: "Investigating the Antecedents and Consequences of Perceived Connectedness to Brand Users: Brand Communities Versus Brand Collectivities." Dr. Martin is an assistant professor of Marketing at the University of North Dakota.

Donald C. Barnes, from St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, completed his PhD in 2009. His dissertation was titled: "3 Essays on Customer Delight." Dr. Barnes is assistant professor of Marketing at the State University of New York - Fredonia.

Zachary Williams, from Hillsdale, Michigan, completed his PhD in 2008. Dissertation title: "Supply Chain Security: An Institutional Theory Approach to Strategies and Outcomes." Dr. Williams is assistant professor of Logistics and Marketing at Central Michigan University.

Collin Barnes, from Knoxville, Tennessee, completed her PhD in 2007. Dissertation title: "An Investigation into the Techniques of Neutralization Theory and their Effects on Compulsive Consumption Behavior." Dr. Barnes is a homemaker in Naperville, Illinois, and part-time instructor at North Central College.

Michelle Beauchamp, from Thibodaux, Louisiana, completed her PhD in 2007. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Examination of the Antecedents and Consequences of the Need for Retail Shopping Convenience in Hispanic and non-Hispanic Consumers." Dr. Beauchamp is assistant professor of marketing at Middle Tennessee State University.

Lin Zhang, from Beijing, Peoples Republic of China, completed her PhD in 2006. Dissertation title: "When Brand Extensions Backfire: Examining the Impact of Negative Information of Brand Extensions on Parent Brands." Dr. Zhang is assistant professor of marketing at Truman State University.

Stevie Watson, from Chicago, Illinois, completed his PhD in 2006. Dissertation title: "The Relevance of Skin Tone: Viewers' Responses to Black Models in Advertisements." Dr. Watson is assistant professor of marketing at Rutgers University.

Brian Russ Kinard, from Florence, South Carolina, completed his PhD in 2006. Dissertation title: "A Comparison of Advertising; Social and Cognitive Predictors of Adolescent and Adult Risk Behaviors." Dr. Kinard is assistant professor of marketing at University of North Carolina - Wilmington.

Michael Poletti, from War, West Virginia, completed his PhD in 2005. Dissertation title: "lacing an Economic Value on First Mover Advantage: An Investigation of the Effect of Pioneer Lead-Time on the Performance of First, Second, and Third Market Entrants." Dr. Poletti is assistant professor of marketing at the University of North Carolina - Pembroke.

Michael L. Capella, from Starkville, Mississippi, completed his PhD in 2005. Dissertation title: "A Review of the Effect of Advertising on Cigarette Initiation, Continuation, and Brand Behavior: A Mixed Method Approach." Dr. Capella is assistant professor of Marketing at Villanova University.

Claire Allison Stammerjohan from Lincoln, California, completed her PhD in 2002. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Investigation of Husband and Wife Perceptions of Family Purchase Process Participation in Retirement Age Families." Dr. Stammerjohan is assistant professor of marketing at Jackson State University.

Palaniappan "al" Thiagarajan from Waseca, Minnesota completed his doctorate in 2002. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Investigation of Effect of Role Strain on Single Parent Households' Purchase Behavior." Dr. Thiagarajan is an assistant professor of marketing at Jackson State University.

Sandra Branowitzer Conners from Blacksburg, Virginia completed her doctorate in 2002. Dissertation title: "The Effects of Environmental Certification and Involvement On Advertising Effectiveness in an Elaboration Likelihood Model Framework." Dr. Connors is an adjunct instructor at the University of Kentucky.

Dee Anne Larson from Amory, Mississippi completed her PhD in 2001. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Investigation of the Relationship Between Perceived Risk, Information Search and Cognitive Dissonance: A Closer Look at the Differences Between In-Home and In-Store Shopping." Dr. Larson is an associate professor at Mississippi University for Women.

Christopher D. Hopkins from Bluefield, West Virginia received his PhD in 2001. Dissertation title: "Analysis of Affective and Functional Dimensions of E-Tailer Image as Antecedents to Online Search Motives, Involvement, and Purchase Intentions: An Empirical Test and Explanation." Dr. Hopkins is an associate professor of marketing at Clemson University.

J. Robert Field from Thibodaux, Louisiana received his doctorate in 2000. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Investigation of Consumer's Perceptions and Purchase Intentions of Counterfeit Products: A Means-Ends Chain Analysis." Dr. Field is an associate professor at Lake Superior State University.

Jeff Perriatt from Biloxi, Mississippi received his doctorate in 2000. Dissertation title: "Manager Personality and Customer Orientation in Market Oriented Logistics Organizations." Dr. Perriatt is an associate professor at Auburn University, Montgomery, Alabama.

Wei "Harvey" Tung from Fen-shan, Taiwan received his doctorate in 2000. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Study of Ad-Evoked Mood Formation in the Hypermedia Computer-Mediated Environments (HCMEs)." Dr. Tung is a professor of marketing at National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology (Taiwan).

James Bryan Hayes from Brandon, Mississippi received his doctorate in 1999. Dissertation title: "Antecedents and Consequences of Brand Personality." Dr. Hayes is an associate professor at Mississippi College.

R. Davis "Dave" McMahon, Jr. from Thousand Oaks, California received his doctorate in 1999. Dissertation title: "Determining the Optimal Delay Configuration for a Service Setting." Dr. McMahon is an associate professor at Pepperdine University.

Kaushik Mitra from Calcutta, India received his doctorate in 1999. Dissertation title: "The Effects of Provider-Customer (Dis) Similarity and Provider Communication Styles on Customers' Service Evaluations." Dr. Mitra is a marketing research specialist at AT&T.

Michelle C. Reiss from Thibodaux, Louisiana received her doctorate in 1999. Dissertation title: "Relative Influence and Influence Strategy Use in Purchase Decision Making: Married, Cohabiting, and Homosexual Couples." Dr. Reiss is an associate professor at Spaulding College.

Doraiswamy Shanmugasundarama received his doctorate in 1996. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Investigation of Information Search Processes of In-home Shoppers." Dr. Shanmugasundarama is a professor at Indiana University Southeast.

Sung-woo Bae from Seoul, Korea received his doctorate in 1996. Dissertation title: "A study of the Impact of Magazine Credibility, Involvement, and Message Ambiguity on Advertising Effectiveness." Dr. Bae is a professor at Mokwon University (Korea).

James B. Faircloth, III from Clinton, North Carolina received his doctorate in 1996. Dissertation title: "Development and Management of Brand Image: Impacts on Brand Equity." Dr. Faircloth is a professor at the University of Wyoming.

Gregory B. Turner from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina received his doctorate in 1996. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Examination of the Composition of Cooperative Buyer-Supplier Relationships in Industrial Markets: A Model Comparison Approach." Dr. Turner is a professor at the University of Charleston.

Robert D. Montgomery from Evansville, Indiana received his doctorate in 1995. Dissertation title: "The Influence of Involvement, Retirement, and Cognitive Age on the Age-Related Learning Deficit." Dr. Montgomery is a professor at the University of Evansville.

Rama Yelkur from Pondicherry, India received her doctorate in 1995. Dissertation title: "Generic Versus Brand Name Prescription Drug Choice: An Empirical Subsegmentation of the Generic Prone Elderly Consumer." Dr. Yelkur is an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Randall L. Robbins from Arkadelphia, Arkansas received his doctorate in 1994. Dissertation title: "An Investigation of Marketing Culture, Role, Perception, and Business Performance." Dr. Robbins is a professor at Mississippi College.

Charles R. Strain, Jr. from Birmingham, Alabama received his doctorate in 1994. Dissertation title: "Need for Autonomy as a Moderator of the Autonomy-Performance Relationship in the Model of the Determinants of Salesperson Performance." Dr. Strain is a professor at the University of Houston.

John Duncan Herrington received his doctorate in 1993. Dissertation title: "The Effects of Tempo and Volume of Background Music on Shopping Time and Purchase Amount." Dr. Herrington is a professor at Radford University.

Barry E. Langford received his doctorate in 1993. Dissertation title: "An Analysis of Insureds' Behavioral Intention to Shop Among Insurers for a Personal Automobile Policy." Dr. Langford is an associate professor at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Dawn E. Bolton from Fondulac, Wisconsin received her doctorate in 1993. Dissertation title: "The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Need for Cognition: Converging Research for Ad Effectiveness." Dr. Bolton is an professor at Western Kentucky University.

Mark A. Mitchell from Indiana, Pennsylvania received his doctorate in 1993. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Examination of the Product Elimination Decision – Making Processes of U.S.–Based Manufacturers." Dr. Mitchell is a professor at the University of South Carolina, Spartanburg.

Susan L. Taylor from Houma, Louisiana received her doctorate in 1993. Dissertation title: "An Empirical Investigation of Outshopping for Hospital Services." Dr. Taylor is a professor at Belmont University.

Rice P. York, Jr. from Jackson, Mississippi received his doctorate in 1993. Dissertation title: "The Impact of Satisfaction, Quality, and Value on Service Continuance/Discontinuance." Dr. York is a professor at Belhaven College.

至于Judy姐姐有没有表示出对你的提及她学校的不满,我就不多说了,Judy姐姐心里应该明白。online communication本来就容易造成误解,个人觉得有意无意提及别人的personal background总是要注意一点的

Judy姐姐淡定。
我本来也就是换个话题八卦一下今年market,某位实在是善于联想能把我原先两句话的帖子扯到决定market job的因素这样高层次的话题,顺便还揣测了一下我的动机。可惜你的揣测一点也不make sense
再随便说几句吧,首先这个版上依然活跃的在读PhD其实不少,而且绝大部分有价值的信息都是他们提供的。
其次,了解market的一些信息有无必要,这个见仁见智吧。我个人觉得多了解一些这个领域各方面的一些情况总没坏处的。
最后,讨论的时候暗戳戳的黑一下别人实在是很下作的事情。
真心觉得2013fallBiz说得好!此外,个人认为在teaching school教书也是一个很不错的职业呀。

本来我懒得说什么的,开学了之后真是没力气吵架。不过有人极尽mean之能事也就罢了,居然还有人叫好?希望lz不要介意,一会儿我就把帖子的标题里我的大名改掉了。


1我也不觉得申请人问job market特别有意义,所以我说了it does not  hurt。话说回来了,又有几个帖子能特别有意义呢?无非是个论坛而已,大家灌灌水,顺便获取点儿信息。其实我的原意就是说“2013fallbiz,你不用这么大惊小怪,人家问个就业市场也值得你这么冷嘲热讽“。
2信息不对称也能叫jargon,我妹高中刚毕业都知道。退一步讲,我个人觉得在本版的语境下用jargon没什么不好。
3讨论问题就事论事这么简单的道理都有些人都不明白么?我不觉得2013fallbiz对我所在学校的评论logically make any sense here,说着说着就招呼人家的背景......
4论坛的内容和发展本来就是动态的。今天的phd版还是过去的master版里分离出来的。8个版主都是在读生,发考题,一个申请人都没有。随着年限的增加,过去的申请人变成了在读生发考题是正常的变化。人大经济论坛难道去的人都是人大的么?2013fallbiz自己是申请人来闲逛就推而广之觉得绝大多数人都是申请人实在是很不logical的推断。
