PREP07-SC1-52题新新新问题，我一直觉得答案是错的！！

答案说选D。

但是我有两个问题：
1. Manhattan语法在代词（第四版P70）那章中明确说过位于所有格('s)的名词已经变成了形容词，其他代词不能指代这个名词。
   e.g.: Wrong: The board is investigating several executives' compensation packages in order to determine how much may have been improperly awarded to THEM.
这里的them不能指代executives，因为executives现在位于所有格中。要改成正确的，起码要改成 The board is investigating the compensation of several executives......
  又如：Tom's room was tidy, so his mother praised him. 这句话也是错的，因为Tom's整个作为形容词的存在，后面的his/him均不能指代他。
  综上，可以看到上面那题的D答案，把Mary Leakey （Mary Leakey‘s contibution)放在了所有格的位置，而根据句意句中的所有代词都应该指代Mary Leakey，因此D项是错的。

2. 还有一个小问题：为什么语法笔记上的C项说contributor改变了句意？不都是表达Mary Leakey对人类学做出了贡献吗？实在是不明白。

如果有谁能明确解决我的疑问，实在是太感谢了！！

对于到底是her work和ML搭配还是ML's contribution搭配，我觉得其实从这两题里就可以看出，这并不是GMAC的考点。换言之，并不是manhattan 4里所提到的情况。
下面我引用从另一篇讨论帖里扒来的一个解释，我觉得很通。

这样解释看能否帮助LZ理解：
我们现在讨论的代词主要是：指示代词（如she）、物主代词（如her）。
这两类代词在句子中所充当的成分不同，指示代词在句中作主语或宾语，而物主代词在句中是作定语的。
所以，指“代词无法指代所有格”这一规则更严格一点来说，应该是指示代词无法指代所有格，因为所有格在句中也是作定语的，不同的功能，无法替代。

该题中的her与所有格都是作定语，所以可以指代。（其实这样的例子比比皆是，只是我们没有去分析）
一家之言。
所以其实这两题的考点主要是平行。能够最后判断答案的，还是从后面的部分是否平行来出。

这两道题的差别很小，但是对mary leakey's contribuions还是mary leakey做句子主语的选择完全不同。

可是in addition to A, B...不需要A和B是对等的吖。

在这道题的另外一个变体中（PREP07-SC2-66），正确的答案是：

In addition to her work on the Miocene hominid fossil record, Mary Leakey contributed to archaeology with her discovery of the earliest direct evidence of hominid activity and painstakingly documenting East African cave paintings.

这里就没有要求对等平行，因此In addition to是不要求并行的。

哈哈，这也是我纠结了很久的经典题啊。虽有自己的一些想法，但目前仍在盼望有NN来醍醐灌顶。我的疑惑和楼主完全一样。

楼主引用的66题变体题的正确答案D其实是逻辑主语用的也是Mary Leakey's contributions，和52题其实完全一样。
你后面的楼也说了打错了。

但其实这个指代问题还不是"ML's一定指代her"那么简单，因为还有另一道129题，也是这个题的变体题，它的正确答案A是Mary Leakey contributed to archaeology through her discovery of the earliest direct evidence of hominid activity and through her painstaking documentation of...

也就是说，这题在老prep里至少出现过三次：
分别是prep1:
52.(27251-!-item-!-188;#058&003145)

129.(31370-!-item-!-188;#058&004475)
prep2:
66.(27974-!-item-!-188;#058&003736)

66题和52题完全一样。

值得推敲的是129题。我在楼下把129和52（66）两题都贴出来，方便对比讨论。

别的不说，楼主你确定这句是正确答案？我觉得是错误的，但看后面的discovery and documenting就知道是错误的了。


我觉得in addition to n.和后面的主语肯定要逻辑一致的。

这题的答案我写错了，正确答案后面也是Mark Leakey's contribution，但是in addition to+n.，主句的主语确实不要求和n逻辑一致~~现在一时找不到例子，等到我哪天看到了再回你~~~

我记得之前看了的帖子是说代词的主格，宾格不能代替所有格中的所有者，但是物主代词则可以和所有格这个整体互相指代。如he不可以指代Mike's里的Mike，但his可以指代mike's这个整体，完全没有歧义。。
具体记不清了但这个题里面her代替Mary Leaky's应该是没错的

我记得之前看了的帖子是说代词的主格，宾格不能代替所有格中的所有者，但是物主代词则可以和所有格这个整体互相指代。如he不可以指代Mike's里的Mike，但his可以指代mike's这个整体，完全没有歧义。。
具体记不清了但这个题里面her代替Mary Leaky's应该是没错的
