finance phd 虚心求定位

本人想申请明年2013年夏季入学的美国金融phd，希望以前申请过的，或是有过申请经验的前辈给我点儿意见。
先说说我的情况，本科国内211高校，国经贸专业，双修数学学院统计学，专业gpa应该有3.7吧。硕士在美国top20统计系统计学硕士，gpa3.6。有几年SAS编程的经验，目前在国内一个比较好的金融研究院做助研，帮助2位美国学校的老师做研究。推荐信可以找这两个老师写，但是现在没做出什么完整的成果，不知道能不能有比较strong的推荐信，暂时假设仅仅是positive的推荐信吧。GMAT700+4.0。
希望大家说说，能申请到什么样儿的学校呢？心里真的是没底。先谢谢大家了。

UT Dallas may be decent based on its b-school ranking, but DO NEVER go to UTSA--it really sucks; I have friends studying there, at both master level and doctoral level; you will never find a job by holding a degree from UTSA.

Why do you want to go to these two?! To be honest, these two really suck; it will be extremely hard to find a job (either in academia or in the industry) after finishing your PhD at these two schools. Your background is really good, as Judy previously suggested. So be careful about choosing your target schools; there is no need to "discount" yourself; better to use Top 70-80 as backups--really!!! To the best of knowledge, this bottom line is absolutely reasonale for your background. Again, do not UNERESTIMATE yourself. good luck

Thank you very much. What kinda ranking for finance phd program do you use? I checked several ranking websites for finance program, but some of the rankings are not really reliable.   I used wpcarey.asu ranking, UT-Dallas ranked 65. Do you think it makes sense?

为啥你总让我感觉那么乐观捏，哈哈。不过听说UIUC每年有300个人申请，只招3-4个人，这是什么难度啊其他program也都差不多啊~~

你是不是比较不会联络感情啊？

据说和老师去喝喝酒踢踢球很容易拿strong的推荐信的

FIN admission is very competitive now. But you can give it a shot to 20-50ish schools. The background of many current students in those programs are weaker than yours.

建议用GRE申，Top 30 Fin phd都prefer GRE. 而且你可以申Top20的Econ方向，出来placement也不一定很差。
