One of the earliest known birds with a beak and contour feathers, Confuciusornis sanctus, with large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, which probably helped them to climb up to a launching position for flight.
(A) with large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, which probably helped them to (B) with large clawlike "thumbs" on their wings, which probably helped it to (C) had large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, which probably helped them (D) had large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, probably to help it (E) had large clawlike "thumbs" on their wings, probably to help it 30. For members of the seventeenth-century Ashanti nation in Africa, animal-hide shields with wooden frames were essential items of military equipment, a method to protect warriors against enemy arrows and spears. (A) a method to protect (B) as a method protecting (C) protecting (D) as a protection of (E) to protect 答案很明显选C,在解释E项时og说“Although the infi nitive to protect would work if it were not preceded by a comma, it cannot act as a nonrestrictive adjectival phrase modifying ‘items’ ”,这么一说不是comma+不定式是错的嘛?
姐姐,我想请问一下,第一题,had large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, probably to help it 这里怎么从句意上 判断comma+to help是作为adverbial modifier来修饰前面一句话的,而不是像C选项一样用which 来引导定语从句修饰wings呢?(虽然我知道C选项错在后面的them指代错误)
因为在我看来,要是“comma+to help”要是作为adverbial modifier 来修饰前面一句话,主语是Confuciusornis sanctus的话,那么后面的“to help it”是否应该改成“to help itself”呢?
The skyscraper in the distacne is a five-star hotel
He likes reading books in the reading room.
第二个句子的in the reading room, 是一个状语的修饰,把in the reading room 除去,并不会影响整个句子的主意:he likes reading books, 同时,部分修饰的是整个句子,也可以说是修饰了read这个的动作
One of the earliest known birds with a beak and contour feathers, Confuciusornis sanctus, had large clawlike "thumbs" on its wings, probably to help it climb up to a launching position for flight.
这里的 “probably to help it climb up to a launching position for flight.”
May, can, must, will, would, 或者should所具有的含义,而这里前面有一个probably,可能就是在表示推测, 含有情态意义的动词,都有表示猜测的含义。
WITH all the world TO SPEND, the boy was spoiled.
暂且不看a method指代items这个错误用法,animal-hide shields were items of military equipment, as a method protecting warriors against enemy arrows and spears.

再者,我觉得 as 做介词的话 修饰的就是句子主语 animal-hide with wooden frames 但是 根据 OG 解释,划线部分 是要 解释 items of military equipment 的效用.
