查了帖子，就2篇帖子对这有讨论，但是我觉得完全没到点上。

大家看对D的解释。h e fi nal descriptor in present tense,  now
drawing conclusions … does not fi t the
opening clause, which is in present-perfect
tense ( have amassed a wealth …) and seems
to modify adulthood .
然后，我疑惑了，-ing不就2种可能么？不可能是修饰adulthood的啊

这题prep08语法笔记里有吧~~ing有两种，一是“优先”做引导状语从句表伴随行为或结果  二是做定语从句修饰临近名词。

这题的主句时态是现在完成时，而-ing无法伴随已经完成的动作，所以只能做定语从句修饰adulthood，但是这个时候逻辑上不make sense,所以D为错误选项

ing 形式做修饰语
（1）做形容词，直接修饰名词
（2）可以修饰主语和动词
（3）可以修饰一个从句（此时主句若转化为同意名词，这个名词可作为ing
的主语），这种形式就是常见的ing 表示结果的结构。
（4）ing 形式在主系表结构中，可以修饰其前面紧跟的名词
（5）ing 形式在主谓宾结构之后，可以表示与谓语动词同时发生，表伴随，此
时其逻辑主语就是主句的主语。
