对于第一道，我有点个人见解

对于LS说的分词作后置定语和定语从句的区别我表示赞同，但是我平时在做题的时候很难想到这一点，因为在用法上其实都是允许的，这道题我认为是to demonstrate 和in demonstrating 给了提示。在PREP08笔记里170题写道：be helpful in doing的用法，而且提醒我们要特别注意。这里proved helpful其实也是系表结构，符合了这个固定搭配用in doing

对比三个选项 发现在句意上的区别有 3个major networks 同时动作 和3个major networks 各自工作。 根据作者的意思应该是 每一个major networks 都可以blablabla 排除BC 留下E

1、C为什么错？
这个问题其实跟第2个问题重合了，C错就错在丢掉了as。
2、 as when 是什么用法？
这是一个我们常常会犯的错误，看句子只看局部。
其实，并非as when是一个怎样特殊的词组，而是因为句子后面有the same，这是一个固定搭配。
如果你注意到了它，那你一定听说过the same as这个词组。
所以这里其实是用when来引出一个定语从句，而as是从后面the same as的词组中提出来的。
因此，把D后面句子调整过来应该是：television can be superficial，when the three major networks each broadcast exactly the same statement as (they broadcast) from a political candidate.
补充一下哦，千万不要因为这里有个each，就认为后面的动词应该用单数：broadcasts，因为定从的主语是networks，那个each只是networks的定语。

关于第1题
一、看选项，找区别，筛选项
1、ABC中shooting…作为cannon的后置定语
2、DE中that引导的定语从句作为cannon的后置定语
我认为DE的用法更好。
因为现在分词作后置定语其实是省略了which is，说白了，也是定语从句，但定语从句中用的是进行时态：a cannon（which is） shooting dead chickens at airplanes。
然而，根据文意，cannon已经证明后面的结果，又怎么能用进行时态呢？所以DE中用的一般现在时是在陈述事实，时态使用正确。
二、    再找细节差别
现在只剩D和E。我觉得你所说的究竟用helpful to do 还是helpful in doing，或是是否应该有反身代词itself都不是考点，因为两种表达都可以。
重要的区别在于时态。
D用的是proves，一般现在时，用于表示事实。
E用的是has proved，现在完成时，用于表示过去发生的事情对现在还有影响或过去发生的事情持续到现在。
无论哪种解释，都是过去发生的事情。然而cannon的定语从句用的都是一般现在时，自然不可能是过去发生的事情了。所以时态错误。
