1.         The Glass House Mountains inQueensland, Australia,
were sighted in 1770 by the English navigator Captain
James Cook, bv whom thev were named supposedly
because its
sheer wet rocks glistened like glass.

(A)       by whom they were namedsupposedly
because its

(B)       by whom they were namedsupposedly and their
(C)       naming them supposedly sincetheir
(D)       who so named them supposedlybecause their
(E)        who so named it sincesupposedly their

我选的是C,答案解释:As the object of a preposition and not the
subject of the clause, James Cook does not
work as the noun that the verbal phrase
beginning with
naming can describe; the
preposition
since loses the important causal
logic of the sentence.

since那部分OK.但是我不理解为什么“naming...”不能修饰JAMES COOK,因为很多解释都是说非谓语动词修饰离其最近的那个名词啊。怎么这个又不行,非常confused。希望有高人给我指点一下!感激不尽!

不是高人~~~
我觉得是这样的:
s代表主语 v代表谓语 o代表宾语
svo doing/done 分词修饰宾语
svo,doing(注意有逗号) doing修饰主语 做伴随状语 或者 doing修饰整句话做结果状语
