我的选择是A，觉得connected前面应该跟一个谓语，和前面的“were built”相平行似的，不过OG没有提到平行的问题，而是说To describe the noun structures, thee participal form connected should be used, turning the web into an adj. 这里我就不明白了，那connected的主语到底是什末啊？是structure or the settlements? 而且，就算是如此，为什么不能用were connected,因为后面有个“by”啊，不能当被动式来看吗？

求解求解，谢谢个位大侠了~~

补充一个小问题吧，这道题with 前面是不是应给没有逗号的呀。
manhattan论坛和Prep上面都是没有逗号的。  
PS：加了逗号之后貌似更难把握两个非限定性修饰的关系，是不是容易造成误解而错呢？

嗯，我也觉得manhattan的版本和现在讨论得版本不一样，人家没有逗号的。

在Mforum上面这道题应该是打错了，看他题目中也没有把with划线，题目中with前面应该是有逗号，with应该是划线的。

这道题我自己的思路是这样的：能拥有（with） structures的只能是settlements,即定居点有很多structures，要表达这层意思，只能"逗号+with“结构，with结构在此的修饰作用与”逗号+ving“的作用类似，with结构的逻辑主语是句子主语settlements。如果是用of的话，scale of more than 75 carefully engineered structures的意思不太合理，变成了”拥有很多structures的scale(规模）“。总结起来一句话，拥有很多structures的只能是定居点(settlements），而不能是scale.

为什么C中的 each that had bee ...

C的两个问题：
1. each that had been的话，就只形成了一个主语，noun alone 无法做独立主格去修饰前面的clause（这里如有错误请大牛修正）
2. 如果真的去修饰的话，按就近它修饰了room，但room怎么会被complex regional system of roads connected?

为什么C中的 each that had been不能够作为 同位语修饰前面的 room/structure呢？ 如果忽略其本身的指代不清的话。 ron说的要贴近修饰那一点不是很懂。 求指教

我是知道句意上來講,D選項句意完全不平行,但表面的看, and with each 似乎是可以跟 on a spectacular scale 用介係詞平行. 快速判斷下似乎容易出錯
想請問這種表面平行,實戰下還是要走句意為主,是嗎?

今天做到这道题，看了看论坛前辈们的帖子，参考了贴出来的Ron的解释，确实前辈们的理解和Ron的解释其实是南辕北辙的。

我思考了下，其实这里with前面comma只是增加了题目的难度，其本质含义还是和Ron的关于没有comma版本的解释是相同的。(增补：意思是说comma with与with都可以修饰preceding noun)

"of up to 600 rooms each"才是插入语，而修饰的内容是structures，整句话是在讲：settlements有75个structures,每个structure有600个rooms，structures被road连接。


增补：发现写的好像不是很明白，补充说明一下。

答案选B。

A，E两项都是“comma splice”，因为句中有两个谓语结构，却没有合适的conjunction，比如and；
C项，each后不能跟relative clause，each在这里是pronoun，这个句子的each结构是意图以absolute phrase来对主句进行修饰，但是that引导的relative clause用错了；
D项，and引入了平行结构，但很明显其并列内容并不平行。

说一下B项：
with引导的介词结构是在修饰a spetacular scale; of引导的介词结构作为插入语，修饰structures；connected引导的分词结构修饰structures
