答案是B，可是想不通阿，总觉得那个  so they cannot determine中的so是多余的。句子连起来读不通阿！
Whereas scientists, because of random fluctuations in the weather, cannot determine the transition from one season to the next by monitoring temperatures on a daily basis, so they cannot determine the onset of global warming by monitoring average annual temperatures.

1) just as A do, so B do比较结构的习惯搭配,译为:就如同A…B…
2) whereas表示转折关系, just as…so表示类似关系
3)  指代一致

(A) whereas表示转折意思,但从句子意思上看应该使相似关系; whereas… so不符合习惯用法,应该去
掉so
(B) 正确, 符合习惯搭配,逻辑意思合理
(C) like…so…不符合习惯搭配,应该去掉so
(D) 不符合习惯搭配,a scientist和后面的they无法对应
(E)  不符合习惯搭配；a scientist和后面的they无法对应

唉，就是这个just as...so的解释让我觉得它不是指代scientist：
1) just as A do, so B do比较结构的习惯搭配,译为:就如同A…B…

just as是比较，。。。。。。

写到这里好像突然想通了，以前看到的都是不同的人之间的比较，现在出来了相同的人的不同行为之间的比较，这个倒是很值得重视的

不是指代scientists吗？有问题吗？  

不过这题看到那个because of 做插入语还挺新鲜。。。

just as... so..搭配没啥意见，但那个they，指代谁呀，这种无指代在GMAT里可算是大忌呀

有没有NN指导一下，这道题我第一眼就排除这种指代不一致了，晕呀

Just as引导从句，谓语是determine，so引导主句。。
