今天也一直在想这个问题，好像有点终于搞明白了！

1，首先只有名词才有同位语，

2，同位的主体是少数抽象名词和事件，如"strategy", "figure", "statistic", "findings", "situation", "change", "difference", idea, fact, theory, promise, hope, news, doubt, truth, information, suggestion, question, thought, belief, conclusion, etc，尾句作为例外可以做整句的同位语，而不需要像which一样限定于修饰句尾最后那个词，也就是说不需要满足touch rule。

3，但如果同位语的主体是一个具体的，普通名词，例如bird，遇到其同位语的时候，则需要紧跟修饰的名词，满足touch rule

我最不明白的就是Manhattan裡已經講了"touch rules", 為什麼這裡可以用a trend that...來修飾整個句子。答案是：
if you have an appositive modifier that's an abstract noun - such as "strategy", "figure", "statistic", "findings", "situation", "change", "difference", etc. - then such an appositive may be allowed to describe the entire situation described in the previous clause.

for instance, the example i gave above with "a strategy..."

also, for further examples, see #59 and #79 in the purple verbal supplement OG book.
in #79 this modifier is part of the underline and is useful in choosing the correct answer. in #59 it's not part of the underline, so you don't have to use it, but you're exposed to it so that you can use it later.

此外as a deal that will make it ...和 as a deal to make it ...的区别是：前者是结果，后者是目的。本题没有强调company的并购的目的是变成行业第一，只是说并购后就变为行业第一了，所以意思不相同。

同位语从句的先行词只能是名词，而且仅限于idea，plan，fact，theory，promise，hope，news，doubt，truth，information，suggestion，question， thought，belief，conclusion等少数名词。第二题中的part貌似不能作为先行词使用~个人观点，仅供参考哦~
