在这里想问一下选项A，OG的解释是“The participial phrase does not clearly modify the noun in the preceding phrase;
use of the present progressive form of the verb confuses the sequence of time with respect to the past tense of the main verb capitalized”
1）感觉A选项主要是句子组织上和表达上的问题，没有语法上的错误对吗？
2）OG解释中“use of the present progressive form of the verb confuses the sequence of time with respect to the past tense of the main verb capitalized”让小弟想起过去分词有时候构成的是名词的修饰成分类似于定语：the girl, failed in the exam, is his sister，有时候是谓语动词，比如本题中。请问应该怎样去区分这两种情况呢？

A项：OG将其理解为现在分词是应为coordinating them with her narratives中coordinate显然是作为动词用的
假设coordinating作为形容词则修饰illustration,显然错误，因为发出coordinate的动作的是BP而不是illustration
假设coordinating作为分词修饰动作capitalized,那时间顺序上不通，因为是先有she carefully coordinated with her narratives再表现出BP capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world，而不是coordinate的同时表现出capitalized

A的问题在于分词短语的修饰对象不清, 可以修饰B.P., 也可以修饰book illustrations. 1楼说的也是一个原因, them指代不清. 可以注意到正确答案里面没有了them, 用which明确修饰book illustrations.

现在分词短语修饰的时候, 有正在进行中的含义. 过去分词有被动的含义. 一般表伴随状态或结果.

楼主的例句在GMAT里面百分百不会出现, 一定是The girl who failed in the exam is his sister. 用限制性定语从句来修饰.

对于第二个问题，我也觉得不是很清楚，所以那个例子是对是错都分辨不清楚，感觉像是出现了两个谓语...才上来请教NN~~希望有高手能简单描述一下过去分词做定语和谓语的区分方法，谢谢！

1）我觉得是那个THEM指代不清，要不然E从语法来讲也是没啥特别的问题的。
2）the girl, failed in the exam, is his sister， 这个用法我怎么觉得有点奇怪呢。
