大全一题关于AS做伴随状语

1.    Clark and Florence, a husband-and-wife medical team, worked steadily and efficientlythrough the night, but sipping their coffee the next morning, she noticedthat he seemed disoriented.
(A) sipping their coffee the next morning, she noticed that heseemed disoriented
(B) sipping their coffee the next morning, he seemed to bedisoriented, she noticed
(C) as they sipped their coffee the next morning, she noticed thathe seemed disoriented
(D) as they were sipping their coffee the next morning, he seemed,she noticed, disorientedC
(E) he seemed disoriented, she noticed, sipping their coffee thenext morning
这道题正确答案是C,但是我觉得D更加能体现出来在过去的‘当时’的那种情况啊,而且as后面的那个句子C和D虽然看着不同,但实际上一样吧???
求解释,为啥选C不选D

我觉得C很perfect的~~你看:

worked steadily and efficiently through the night, but  as they sipped their coffee the next morning

这里对比结构很清楚,as也表示了当什么的时候。

AS有很多种用法,并不一定是加ing形式才是对的,这里不管是过去进行时还是过去式表达的意思都是合理的,所以没有问题

但是D选项后半句改变了句子的重心,强调 he seemed , she noticed则变成了插入语

相比之下C就更好了。
