2011 会计博士申请：可选项：Tilburg University ; University of Maryland

已经是第二次申请会计博士，虽然没有拿到理想的offer, 自己的付出最终有了回报，已经感到很欣慰。回报与付出是成正比的，相信版上拿到更好offer的xdjm肯定付出了更大的努力。（当然了，罕有的“天才”除外）自己选择申请博士源于自己一直很享受学习的过程。选择做学术，能够不断的学习，本身就是一种精神上莫大的回报了，更何况还可以作为一个职业支持个人和家庭，算是两全其美了。基于自己对会计研究的有限了解，觉得自己对理论分析研究更有兴趣，但并不排斥实证研究。面试时，一个TAR 的主编说过,他有一个朋友分析实证通吃，可以往来于stanford 和wharton 之间。 对于博士毕业之后的期望：知道名校无望，也不奢求，但出于自己对研究的兴趣，希望能够进入北美的研究性会计系从事研究，能够回香港的大学也是不错的选择。(还是想念伟大的父母亲，伟大的祖国母亲的). 对于自己的两个选择，希望CD上的前辈们不吝赐教！

是的，analytical这东西没人带是没法做的。

Yes, you are right. Professor Kim told me that they recruited another candidate who said she will not do empirical at all, but he just does not believe her. But the question is what if my interest will not change, in that case  no body could help me in the department. I think it will be extremely hard, if possible,  for me to do it by myself.

By the way, Tilburg's program is very comprehensive. They have experts in almost all the areas. So, no matter what your interest will change to, you can always get a good supervisor. Plus, by information from jingzhimeng and anderuth, the faculties there are very nice, would like to help you, which I think is most important for a Phd study.

btw, if u are only a fresh master student, ur research interest doesn't matter at all. It will change very quickly

恩，欧洲毕业的中国人前途不大，还是去umd吧，毕业后混个美国的学校当faculty还是问题不大的。

跟着Rebecca Hahn好好做，Tilburg做empirical的有很好的placement,但是貌似都是外国人。

赫赫，楼主显然是没别的选择阿，有的话就不用再这纠结了。

Maryland的Kim貌似已经半退了，LZ还有别的选择吗？显然做theory最好的是Northwestern和Minnesota啊，Northwestern今年做theory的去了Stanford, Minnesota今年一个做theory的中国人去了CMU

这个是David Larcker或者Rick Lambert吧。
