不是NN，我也在纠where there的问题～
我觉得where there并非一个词组或者是固定搭配之类的要联系起来考虑的句子。而是where修饰前面关于地点的先行词，而后面的there be只是一个从句中的倒装主谓而已。

第一道题when great ice sheets existed where there were areas now temperate。where前面并没有可以修饰的先行词。

相反第二题green suburban neighborhoods where /there is no hunting/ where是修饰neighborhood的，而后面只是一般的there be句型

1. 这个where已经表示地点了，比如：we will meet where there are mountains and lakes.
这话没问题吧？
那有人会这么说么：we will meet where there are areas with mountains and lakes.
很别扭，对不？因为where已经表示地点，你还来where there are areas不是废话么？redundancy! 或者OG说的wordy。

所以我做了PP那道也错了，但是仔细一看发现还是有区别的，我猜哦，OG这道因为where和areas重复嘛，PP是where there is no hunting没有areas之类的地点词，所以我推断where和there be不算重复，不要轻易排除，where和areas重复才是重点。
