记得好像高中讲过not until的句型  查了一下

1. 一般式：not 与until分开，until放在句子的后面。例如：He did not go until midnight. （他直到午夜才走。）
2. 倒装式：not until 连在一起使用，且放在句首，整个句子要倒装。例如：Not until quite recently did I have any idea what a guided missile was like.(直到现在我才知道导弹是什么样子。)
3. 强调式：用于It is + not until +that ...的句型中。例如：It was not until the next day that I learned the truth.(到第二天我才听说事情的真相。)

一直觉得这题很纠结，要不是你列出那三种not unitl的用法，我还一直在苦想着是不是像B选项那样的也是not until的一种倒装用法呢，
而且要不是看你解释A，我也一直没看出这点。太感谢了！

但这道题实在是太纠结我了，我还想问：

1. E选项强调句不是依然强调的是时间not until almost 1900么？
因为强调句中强调的部分不就是It is···that 之间的部分么？

2.D选项错误，我以为除了强调句中不能用when代替that，还有就是只能把almost放在1900前面，不能放在until前面，不然就不是修饰的1900，而是修饰的until了（虽然中文意思没什么差别）。是这样么？

3.跟第2个问题类似，begin seriously to study 和seriously begin studying可以互换么？（这个seriously的位置与它修饰的对象）

你看 这个until almost 1900既可以是之前American poets had professed 。。and had pretended。。的时间状语，也可以是scholars and critics did not begin 。。。的时间状语


OG解释里没有说这两者的区别   就当它没有错。。也许一样的？好像没有碰到过说有区别的题
有人见到过吗~~

哦 D中 强调了when   也就是说何时开始研究   原意是开始研究~
