1.not any=no
表达相同意思  简洁为美，排除BC
2.people (in towns) consider no(not any)happier than people (in cities) consider
主语比较，补出助动词do代替consider，避免相同谓语重复，排除D
E：
肯定句 as……as
否定句（包含not no）so……as
若改为
Freedman’s survey showed that people livingin small towns and rural areas
consider themselves not so happy as do people who live in big cities.
则正确
