答案是D，
笔记上说D优于E的原因是：significant differences在这里可以理解为有重要意义的区别,也可以理解为重要的区别,因此不如significantly表达意思清楚”...
我怎么觉得是E错在：little of 后面应该是单数，而E中differences是复数了...

我觉得这里选D不选E的原因是E改变了句意
原句of there being little that is asignificant difference，先不管它语法的错误，它要表达的意思是：几乎没有什么（东西或方面）是与xxxx有一个显著的差别的，着重在某个东西或方面是否与xxxx有显著差别
(D) that there is little that issignificantly different   与A大致意思相同：几乎没有什么（东西或方面）显著的差别于xxxx
(E) that there is little of significant differences 跟A的意思有偏差，这句说：有几乎可以忽略不计的显著的差别，着重在差别的程度

我所关心的是主句结构所表达的区别是在于不同的人mental processes 之间，还是在于 mental processes 的某一个方面（在该方面，人与人之间存在不同的表现）。
我觉得这是应该分析到的.
至于说little or few 的关系，我也觉得很重要。也可以作为选择标准。

而different in, 或者是difference in通常表示在某一方面的差异。

比如
We are different in the way solving this problem.
在解决这个问题的方式上，我们是不同的。

另外我google了一些句子包含different in...结构的，能说明between 和 in之间的差别
（同理among 和 in）

A: the small talk is different in US and in Britain.
B: websites look different in different browser.
C: Fronts look different in firefox and chrome.
都表达了对比，但是对比不是在in...and...所引出的两个成分之间进行的，而是在于两者间的某个方面。

比如C句：对比的是火狐中的字体，还有chrome中的字体。而不是火狐和chrome 本身

所以我们不能将句子中的in更换成between.
（同理可以推断among 和 in的情况）

比如
A*: Fronts looks different between firefox and chrome,
C*: the small talks is different between US and Britain.
对比变成了between...and...两者之间，从而对比双方发生了变化，表达也变得比较蹩脚（虽然我们知道句子所要表达的意思）。

回到原题：
C项there is little that is significant different in the mental processes
little 表示对比的对象（可以理解成little portion/part之类的），in the mental processes表示对比对象发生的位置。
和上面我google 的三个例子结构非常的相像。

D项中的there is little of significant differences in mental processes, 因为除了mental processes没有提到其他的对象，所以默认对比的是mental processes, 所以需要变成among。

我觉得E的表达错在  differences in the mental processes
应该是differences among the mental processes,

这道题的没有必要从little of语法层面考虑的太细。

句子大意是：人类学家心理学家支持这样一种概括（普遍化，一般化）: 关于人潜层的心智活动，不同的文化背景几乎没有根本的差异。

A B C 三项:  generalization of ... 意思是 ‘对于。。。的一般化’ of 后面引出的是一般化的对象，而不是一般化的结果（即同谓语）。

我从wikipedia找到一些例句：
A generalization of a concept is an extension of the concept to less-specific criteria.
翻译（大意）：对一个概念的一般化是将这个概念延伸到更广义的范畴中
A polygon is a generalization of a 3-sided triangle, a 4-sided quadrilateral, and so on to n sides.
翻译：多边形是对于3边三角形,4边的四边形直到n边的一般化。


所以generalization of的用法虽然合法，但是意思表达错误，排除A B C


下面是比较tricky的D 和E项的差别。
首先考虑两选项意思的差别;
C项：little that is significantly different.
that引导关系从句限定little。
我们将它放在全句中并去掉there be存在结构: little in the mentle processes menifested by people from different cultures is different
在来自不同文化的人所展现的潜层的心智活动中，几乎没有那些方面有重大的不同。

D项：little of 限定 significant differences.
there is little of significant differences in the mentle processes menifested by people from different cultures
在来自不同文化的人所展现的潜层的心智活动中，几乎没有重大的不同。

C项默认，复数的心智活动指的是：一般个人的大脑中进行的多项的心智活动的集合，这个集合是人类所共有的，可以被不同的人展现出来，而不是不同的人大脑中进行的不同的心智活动。
C项表达的是在这个人类共通的心智活动集合中，有一些方面，不同文化背景的人，有不同的表现。但是人类学家心理学家都认为这些方面是很少很少的：
there is little that is significantly different in the underlying mental processes (shared by human being) menifested by people from different cultures

D项默认，复数的心智活动指的是：不同的人所拥有的不同心智活动的总体。
也就是说一个人的心智活动总体和另一个人的心智活动是总体是不同。
D项表达的是：不同文化背景的人，比如A和B，A的心智活动总体和B的心智活动的总体是有不同的。
但是大家都认为特别重大的差异是很少很少的。

所以D项的所说的不同，指的是人与人mental processes之间的不同
但是我们一般使用 ‘among’ 来引出所对比的对象 （三个以及三个以上的多数），而不是 'in'
'in' 所表达的仍然是在某范围内，有什么不同，而不是在什么东西之间有什么不同。
所以D项无法和划线外的结构匹配。

所以排除D

更正：读题的时候疏忽了，investigations 是support的主语，而不是人类学家心理学家。
在此致歉。
其他就没有需要改动的了，我仍然支持原先的观点：D项错在differences in the mental processes
多项比较需用among，而不是in
