这题答案是D，关于这个had,我觉得不应该像注解所说是助动词，根本不可能是过去完成时，所以had应该是实义动词，那么不应该用did吗，难道用had这种形式也OK？

如果不OK，那不就应该选B，因为动词可补可不补，大家讨论下吧~

应该用过去时
did就是指代had

这个had就是实意动词。因为时态不一样所以不能用did。而且必须补出才能取消歧义，不然的话就相当于是than...grandparents (does)
