SC考点笔记-简介
1. 目标：以笔记的形式总结每一种SC考点，以及错题

考点6：定语
1. 核心要点：
定语修饰的是名词，表达的是这个名词，在主语发出动作前，先具备的固有属性
- 定语从，a happly girl，happy为定语，修饰Gril，在翻译过程中，一般为“xx的+名词”；
- 定语从句也是一样的，an apple tree that was planted by Emily，翻译为“Emily种的+an apple tree”
在做题时，要用上述的方式进行翻译，看翻译过来的语意是否正确
1) 所有格做定语
George Washington Carver dedicated his life to theeconomic strengthening of the South with improvement of soil anddiversification of crops.
（A）strengthening the economy in the South with soil improvement and the diversification of crops （B）strengthening theeconomy of the South through soil improvement and crop diversification 解析：A选项中diversification of crops是所有格，所以格表达的是名词本身的属性，但是diversification不是crops本身的属性，不对
2）介词做定语
Thecity has proposed a number of water treatment and conservation projects thecost of which raises water bills high enough so that even environmentalistsare beginning to raise alarms.(A) the cost of which raises water billshigh enough so that xx projects cost不对，应该是the cost of projects；且enough和so that赘余
(B) at a cost raising water bills so highthat 首先，at a cost在句中翻译为，在一个成本上的项目，不对
(C) at a cost which raises water billshigh enough so at a cost 错误同B
(D) whose cost will raise water bills so highthat whose做定语，后面的从句修饰projects，正确 (E) whose cost will raise water bills high enough so that eough和so that赘余同A
3）which，who和whom做定语/状语从句

解析： 首先，介词+关系代词(which) = where, when,why；of which = whose
其次，介词+which=指代物；介词+whom=指代人； 最后，有介词定从和状语从句的时候，需要判断哪一个更合适 A：定语从句which修饰women不对，应用whom修饰women B：an overwhelming proportion of women的核心词是women，是复数名词，身后的谓语动词works也必须用复数才能保证主谓一致 C：正确，many of them是women的同位语 D：同B
E：两个句子间缺少连词
All Y chromosomes in existence today are descended from asingle ancestor's who is thought to have lived about 140,000 years ago. （A）a single ancestor's who is thought to have lived （B）a single ancestor's who was thought to live （C）a single ancestor whom it is thought had lived （D）the Y chromosome of a single ancestor who is thought tohave lived （E）the Y chromosome of a single ancestor whom it was thoughthad lived 解析： A：定语从句who，修饰的是ancestor，应该放ancestor后面，但 a single ancestor's 是所有格，定语who放所有格后面不对 B：定语修饰错误同A；且 to live应该改为to have live，在不定式中的have不代表完成时，而表示“先时性”，因为live的动作发生早于thought，所以要加have
C：首先：主句翻译为“all 染色体 are from a single ancestor”，不对，应该为“all 染色体 are from the染色体 of a sigle ancestor”，是染色体from 染色体
其次：whom是宾语属性的关系代词，代入到原句中为“it is thought (whom=the ancestor) had lived”，但实际上应该改为“ancestor is thought to have live” E：错误同D的whom不对
4）during which做定语从句

5）whether or if

（1）to see whether pigeons can be trained to help find （2）to see if pigeons can be trained for helping to find 解析：表示二选一的时候，要用whether而不是 if，选（1）
6) so much...as...
