补充一个知识点: whether...or not只能做状语从句, whether是名词性从句

D的疑惑。whether可以作名词性从句, 那么为什么不能whether的整个名词性从句作主语, it当作形式主语呢？

同意。It作为形式主语在GMAT中似乎不是很常见，经常会作为referent不clear给排除掉。

to LZ，这道题whether or not过于wordy，两个动作tense不parallel就可以解答这道题。

我问了胡勇老师，他说这里的whether根据上下文是无论的意思，不能做名词性从句。
如果当作是否来说，前面的东西都是不确定的
it is unclear whether...或者lets find out whether
至于是不是跟or not...两个意思好像是都可以跟，都可以省略

楼主说的whether引导的名词性从句作主语  it当作形式主语的例子 理论上好像行得通 不过我是没有见过

一般常见的是that引导真正的主语从句
e.g. It is very clear that .....    由that 引导主语从句

建议楼主去考究一下有木有这种whether引导的名词性从句作主语  it当作形式主语的例子
