在雅思口语和写作中，教育类话题出现频率较高，妥妥就先为大家整理教育类话题的词汇与例句素材。


必备词汇

1. undergraduate
英文释义 a student who is studying for their first degree at a college or university

常用词组
college / university undergraduate
first-year / second-year undergraduate
undergraduate student

Eg: I was a 20-year-old undergraduate student back then.

2. tutor
英文释义 a teacher paid to work privately with one student or a small group

常用词组
school / college / university tutor
course tutor
personal / private tutor

Eg: My parents got me a private tutor to help with my studies.

3. research
英文释义 a detailed study of a particular subject

常用词组
carry out / conduct / do research
be based on research
academic / medical / scientific research
research findings / results
research into / on (subject)

Eg: I read about a fascinating research project on songbirds and how they communicate.

4. dissertation

英文释义 a long piece of writing on a specific subject, usually completed to receive a degree at a college or university

hand in / present / submit a dissertation
a dissertation on (subject)

Eg: Students can either write a dissertation or participate in a more practical project.

5. seminar
英文释义 an occasion when a teacher or professor and a group of students meet for training, discussion or study on a subject

attend / go to a seminar
a series of seminars

Eg: I attended every single seminar when I was a university student.


高分词组

1. rote memorisation 重复记忆，死记硬背
Eg: Rote memorisation can be useless in most people’s mind.
大部分人认为死记硬背没有用。

2. fall short of someone’s expectations 未能达到某人的期望
Eg: Some people worry that if universities only provide theoretical knowledge, their graduates may easily fall short of the employers' expectations.
一些人担心，如果大学只提供理论知识，其毕业生可能会达不到雇主的期望。

3. slack off 不努力，松懈
Eg: It’s about the time we stopped slacking off and did some work.
是时候收心好好工作了。

4. burn the midnight oil 为…而工作/学习到深夜
Eg: Students burn the midnight oil to study when the final exam approaching.

1. Parents can offer support and help their children when a child needs help on homework or other special projects. The parents can be a positive role modelfor the child in helping to shape the child's opinions and attitudesabout learning. Parents are the major role models for young people, who copy the behaviour that they see on a daily basis at home.

Eg: Other research has suggested that an employed mother provides children with a positive role model about the value of working hard, and lessens other, non-economic stresses on the family.

shape... 塑造...
Eg: Like it or not, our families shape our lives and make us what we are.

copy behaviour 模仿（他人的）行为举止
Eg: Everything the boy does is an express copy of his elder brother's behaviour.
这个男孩的一举一动显然是模仿他哥哥的举止。

2. Many providers are building businesses on the promise of boosting and rebooting careers. Massive open online courses（MOOCs) have veered away from lectures on Plato or black holes in favor of courses that make their students more employable. By offering degrees online, universities are making it easier for professionals to burnish their skills.
一些机构开展业务以发展和重振职业生涯。大量的公开在线课程已经从谈论柏拉图或黑洞的讲座转向那些使学生更具就业能力的课程。通过在线提供学位，大学帮助各种专业人士更容易提高技能。

make sb. employable 使得某人具备就业能力
Eg: These days, students have to do much more than study in order to make themselves employableonce they graduate.

burnish one's skills 磨练技能
Eg: Employed adults can burnish their skills online courses to survive in future workplace.为了能够在未来的工作中生存下来，职场人士通过在线课程磨练技能。
