prices可以被indicating the absence of any general inflation or deflation所修饰。

但是形成夹心修饰的决定性条件是产生歧义，即使语法上是夹心修饰，但句意上不产生歧义，那么就不是夹心修饰。

大家都明白的一点就是，单单价格是不可能导致升值和贬值的缺失
而消费者指数的固定才能导致升值和贬值的缺失

那么就意味着，很难会有gmat考生会去认为价格会导致这个结果。
因此就不会产生句意上的歧义，那么这个夹心修饰就不成立。
间接说明，GMAT考的不是纯语法，而是考生对题目的理解。
