Dirt roads may evoke the bucolic simplicity of another century, but financially strained townships point out that dirt roads cost twice as much as maintaining paved roads.

(A) dirt roads cost twice as much as maintaining paved roads

(B) dirt roads cost twice as much to maintain as paved roads do

(C) maintaining dirt roads costs twice as much as paved roads do

(D) maintaining dirt roads costs twice as much as it does for paved roads

(E) to maintain dirt roads costs twice as much as for paved roads

这题中正确答案是B,我的不解在于Ron的一篇帖子里的一个解释:https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/forums/usage-of-do-please-clarify-the-rule-t13797.html
有人提问了B中的do代替什么怎么思考,Ron的解释是:[size=14.007px]Comparisons are [size=14.0084px]comparisons[size=14.007px]. The whole point is that you're comparing things that can legitimately be compared. So, unless the sentence explicitly indicates otherwise, comparison sentences automatically compare [size=14.0084px]things that are actually comparable to each other[size=14.007px].
[size=14.007px]什么叫:[size=14.007px]comparison sentences automatically compare [size=14.0084px]things that are actually comparable to each other[size=14.0084px]?
[size=14.0084px]另一个问题:如何用这个rule去解释他后边列举的例子呢?
