Columbia MBA 的关于goal的essay有两个题目, 一个是What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (50 characters); 另外个是: Through your resume and recommendations, we have a clear sense of your professional path to date. What are your career goals over the next 3 – 5 years and what, in your imagination, would be your long-term dream job? (500 words).

总共涉及了3个goal, 第一个是immediate post-MBA professional goal, 第二个是career goals over the next 3 – 5 years, 第三个是 long-term dream job.


我的问题是: 很多学校只要回答short-term goal and long-term goal, 而CBS实际上要我们回答3个goal;  这3个goal的关系是怎样的? 有没有申请CBS的大牛来指点下?

Hey there,
Good question! Well first of all, Columbia would not be the only school to also ask for Mid-Term goals as well. whatever the case, the strategy is still the same. You want to build where possible a logical career arc from your past to your future. You want to build off the experience, leadership and achievements you have already, yet move forward to something more challenging, more exciting, more fulfilling.

Yet it also needs to be CONCRETE. The school wants to know that your dreams are achievable. So they should be ambitious, yes! But also logical and plausible.

我觉得 immediate post-MBA professional goal和career goals over the next 3 – 5 years 是一样的
因为post-MBA第一份工作差不多就是三年后了
