The value of an MBA can only really be determined by YOU, my friend! It depends what you want to get out of the program, and where you want to go with it. In general, yes, the better the program, the more doors that will open for you. After all, you can't argue with the fact that having Harvard on your resume will make you appealing to just about ANYONE who wants to hire someone! But 1) You don't need to go to an M7 MBA program to be successful in life, 2) You don't need to go to a Top 20 school to be successful in life and 3) Depending on what you want or need from an MBA, you don't even need to go to a Top 30 MBA program!
It all depends on your goals. For some people in some industries, it doesn't make sense to get an MBA if the school is not Top 10. Maybe those industries or jobs ONLY hire top MBAs, or maybe those people know that they can hit their goals without an MBA and the only way an MBA makes sense is if it is from a top program. But for others, they want an MBA because they really want to learn the concepts of business, and for them the brand name matters less.
At the end of the day, the most important thing you can do is go to the best MBA program you can get into. That's it! You do that and you'll get the best return on your investment. For some, that's an M7 school. For others, it is a school ranked 25. Whatever YOUR best is, go there.
By the way, are you currently applying? What are your scores/stats? Let's chat a bit so we can see where you should be aiming!
Best,
